From May 17 - July 6, 2006, Maura Tierney co-starred in Neil LaBute's latest play, titled Some Girl(s), at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in New York City. Eric McCormack starred as a writer meeting up with a series of his ex-girlfriends, and the rest of the cast included Fran Drescher, Judy Reyes, and Brooke Smith. Maura Tierney will next be seen in the film Diggers, about two generations of clam diggers in the Hamptons in the 1970s. Paul Rudd, Lauren Ambrose, Josh Hamilton, Ron Eldard, Sarah Paulson, and Ken Marino also star. Diggers played at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival.
Maura Tierney's next project will (hopefully) be My Dead Boyfriend, based on Arthur Nersesian's book Dogrun. It's the portrait of an aimless 29-year-old woman whose live-in boyfriend dies one day. Her husband Billy Morrissette wrote the adaptation, and ER's Anthony Edwards will direct. This project is no longer in development.
Maura quoted on the expectation of actresses to look good in public: "It's part of the culture, it's part of the game," says ER's Maura Tierney, who is wearing jeans, sandals and a sheer top. "Because the business is about selling, it's about perception, and if you can sell the perception, you can do well just based on how you're perceived. Talent sometimes isn't in that equation. Unfortunately, young actors learn this all too quickly."
